A Star Is Born

Judy Garland had no better showcase for her legendary singing and acting talent than as the title “star” of this classic Hollywood-plays-Hollywood musical spectacular. She dazzles as Esther Blodgett, an up-and-coming singer whose powerhouse voice catches the attention of charming but troubled film star Norman Maine (James Mason). As the two begin a passionate romance, she sees her career ascend, while his tragically declines. Garland delivers show-stopping song after song (most by Harold Arlen and Ira Gershwin), including her knockout rendition of “The Man That Got Away.”
