Romy: Anatomy of a Face

Hans-Jürgen Syberberg’s introspective portrait of European art-house star Romy Schneider captures the twenty-seven-year-old actress at a transitional moment in her career as she sought to evolve beyond the light ingenue roles that made her famous and be recognized as a mature, serious artist. ROMY: ANATOMY OF A FACE explores the tension between an artist’s public and private selves, revealing both Schneider’s incredible magnetism as well as deep currents of melancholy and vulnerability.
