Shadow Kill

Director Adoor Gopalakrishnan probes profound questions of justice, morality, and the very nature of human consciousness through a complex psychological portrait of Kaliyappan (Oduvil Unnikrishnan), an alcoholic hangman in 1940s British India, who faces a deepening moral crisis as he grapples with feelings of guilt and remorse over the job he must do. Winner of the FIPRESCI Prize at the Venice Film Festival, SHADOW KILL confronts the terrifying implications of what it means to take a human life in the name of so-called justice.
