Sunshine for the Scoundrels

One of two midlength films (along with THAT OLD DREAM THAT MOVES) that director Alain Guiraudie released in 2001, this offbeat, sexually fluid fable unfolds against the wide-open landscapes of France’s Massif Central, where a young woman in search of an apocryphal animal meets and falls in love with a gay shepherd. Together they roam the plains on a journey marked by strange encounters and erotic yearning.
