American Dharma

The legendary documentarian Errol Morris (THE THIN BLUE LINE) sits down with one of the most controversial political figures of our time: former Donald Trump campaign strategist and advisor Steve Bannon, the inflammatory ideologue who was instrumental in shaping the billionaire’s political rise. Adopting a typically oblique, multidimensional view of his subject, Morris engages Bannon in a wide-ranging conversation that touches on everything from his favorite movies to the complexities and contradictions of his populist-apocalyptic worldview and his belief in dharma—the sense of overriding duty and fate that drives him. What emerges is a by turns engrossing, unsettling, and enigmatic portrait of a man obsessed by delusions of grandeur and his own place in history.
