Jane by Charlotte

An icon who left an indelible imprint on the worlds of music, film, and fashion, Jane Birkin was one of the most photographed and analyzed women of the last century. Yet this tender, intimate documentary reveals a side of Birkin never before seen on film. As seen through the eyes of her daughter, celebrated actor Charlotte Gainsbourg, Birkin reflects on everything from family to aging to her memories of her relationship with legendary musician Serge Gainsbourg—a past that becomes vividly alive when the pair pay a visit to his Paris apartment, still preserved in time as it was decades ago. The result is an at once lovingly personal and universally resonant look at the complexities and mysteries of the mother-daughter bond.
